Growth game looking at what living things need to stay alive and grow

Bees and pollen game in groups with an adult, the children collected "pollen" from the flower cards hung from the fruit trees.  The group which gets the most are the best bees.

Scavenger hunt - in the garden, ticking off things as they are spotted

Weather - looking at the weather on the day and making a chart

Miniature gardens - in groups the children use the natural materials in the woods to make a miniature garden

Inside and outside the walls - comparing the difference between animals which live inside the walls of the garden and those that live outside.

History of the garden - the Victorians and how they used the garden

Discovering the walled garden - using a detective kit (ruler, magnifying glass,crayon and mirror) the children collect information in the garden

Keys and symbols - filling in a map with what is there today

Weather - temperature, rainfall, wind direction.  Testing inside and outside the garden, how the walls protect the garden.

Soil - testing the soil. How the soil in the garden differs from outside the walls.

Plant and tree growth - what do plants need to grow? Tree growth and grafting fruit trees

Guide books - each child makes a guide book for visitors
